Matariki Show
On the 8th of June the Court Theatre came to our school and performed a Matariki show. As well as performing they taught us some facts about Matariki. One of the facts was that Matariki is the start of the Maori New Year. Matariki is about seven sisters called Tupu-a-rangi, (the twins) Wiati and Wiata, Waipuna-a-rangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Ururangi and Matariki. There were three people involved called Kim, Justin and Laura. They made the audience laugh because they were funny. The teacher took a picture of everyone by the puppets.
Hi Isla, great description of Matariki. Is there any traditional customs that happen at Maori new year? Did you know that the Subaru logo was designed after the same star group?
